Kate Woodsome

Journalist Kate Woodsome is the founder and publisher of The Invisible Threads Project, an independent media and community-building initiative uncovering the ties between mental health and democracy. Through trauma-informed stories, workshops and consulting, Kate helps identify the underlying social and political forces and narratives that keep people isolated and unwell so we can collectively move from struggle to strength. She has spent 20 years navigating complex information environments in post-war, authoritarian and declining democracies from Cuba and Cambodia to Hong Kong and the United States. Most recently with The Washington Post, Kate was part of the team that won the Pulitzer Prize for Public Service for their coverage of the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Prior to The Post, she ran television and radio programs for Al Jazeera English and the Voice of America. Her work has been recognized with an Edward R. Murrow Award and the Ben Bradlee Award for Courage in Journalism.
