The Thirty Million Words Initiative at the University of Chicago is looking for a Research Support Assistant to implement a video-based parent-directed curriculum in partnering health clinics across Chicago in conjunction with a randomized controlled trial. The individual selected for this position will work as part of a team of Research Support Assistants, each of whom will recruit, manage, and follow up with their own patient caseloads. The position involves preparation, implementation, and follow-up related to regular study appointments conducted in the Chicagoland area. The successful candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, as well as experience working with underserved populations and young children and a desire to work in a healthcare setting. Proficiency in Spanish, including the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, is required.
* Recruit and gain informed consent from patients in partnering health clinic sites.
* Monitor scheduled appointments of enrolled study participants and ensure timely
study protocol delivery and follow up.
* Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with program participants;
* Maintain participant recruitment targets to ensure study completion
* Enter and organize participant data
* Remain in steady contact with Project Manager; prepare and submit regular, organized reports detailing recruitment, scheduling, data collection, protocol deviations.
* Maintain clear and constant communication with PI, Project Manager, and Data Coordinator regarding all matters related to families and program.
* Other duties as assigned.
* Proficiency in Spanish, including the ability to read, write, and speak Spanish, required
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required
* Must have a flexible schedule, able to work evenings and weekends as required
* Valid Driver’s License required
* Strong ability to relate to people from diverse gender, ethnic, and socioeconomic
* Problem solving skills
* Ability and willingness to work in clinics located in low-income communities required
* Ability to function as a cooperative and supportive team member required
* Ability to work within prescribed timelines required
* Ability to learn and master technology and software programs required
* Ability to process, protect, and exercise discretion in handling confidential
information and materials required
* Bachelor’s degree preferred
* Experience working with families, infants, toddlers, and young children preferred
* Experience working with underserved populations preferred
