Assistant Professor: Early Childhood, Department of Child and Family Development, San Diego State University
The Child and Family Development (CFD) Department seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor colleague to join a department of committed, experienced faculty. The early childhood education specialization within the undergraduate bachelor’s degree program is accredited by NAEYC and NCFR. Our department emphasizes social-emotional learning, developmentally appropriate practice, multicultural pedagogy, and social justice. The ideal candidate will demonstrate an expertise in early childhood education and multicultural pedagogy with a demonstrated ability to prepare professionals to work with culturally and linguistically diverse children and families. We embrace diversity and inclusion and seek to recruit qualified applicants from all backgrounds and actively encourage applicants from traditionally underrepresented groups.
Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate, graduate, and/or certificate courses, supervising students in school and community-based field experiences, maintaining an active scholarly record, supporting partnerships with community organizations and schools, and providing service to the Department and the College of Education. The anticipated start date for this position is August 2017.
