SUMMARY
The Behavioral Health Senior Analyst provides technical assistance and training support as part of a team providing evaluation, technical assistance, and training to behavioral health projects across the country. Immediate project work is funded through the Department of Health and Human Services for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The Behavioral Health Senior Analyst works collaboratively as part of a team of TA providers to build capacity in evaluation, data utilization, and data knowledge to meet state and program needs. The Behavioral Health Senior analyst leverages prior educational and/or work experience in the field of behavioral health to participate in research, training, and technical assistance projects specializing in mental health systems planning and system evaluation frameworks. Additional responsibilities are highlighted below.

 
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Participates in developing and presenting webinars, presentations, and data tools focused on improving behavioral health care systems.
• Conducts background research and literature reviews of subject-matter specific needs through searches of academic (professional journals/publications), policy/legislative, and other data available through Internet-based searches to extract and summarize information for projects and related proposals. Synthesizes findings for verbal and written presentations.
• Participates in development and validation of various data collection instruments (interview guides, focus groups, surveys, etc.).
• Participates as part of team to support research and evaluation plans.
• Assists with teaching data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, and data reporting.
• Participates as part of team to develop reports, briefs, and/or presentation of findings.
• Participates as an active team member providing recommendations and ideas to strengthen project processes and activities.
• Provides project support, as required, for project team including coordination of meetings, data collection processes, site visits, etc.
• Exercises independent initiative to learn new skills as part of a fast paced team centered work environment.
• Supports the practice area with technical writing for grant and contract proposals, competitive intelligence and lead qualification (experience a plus but will train as necessary)

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, Experience)

• Excellent written communication skills; ability to convey information in a clear and concise manner.

• In-depth experience and understanding of behavioral health and behavioral health systems
• Previous experience working with SAMHSA program (s) or project experience (e.g. member of a SAMHSA-funded state team); strong understanding of behavioral health systems
• Ability to prioritize and multi-task, while working under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Interpersonal skills and flexibility are essential.
• Ability to follow instructions on assigned tasks and seek support as necessary.
• Communicates clearly in adherence with corporate policies and protocols.
• Reviews work product for compliance with standards.
• Exercises independent initiative to learn new skills as part of a fast paced team centered work environment.
• Domestic and International travel required.
• Knowledge of evaluation methodologies and analysis techniques
• Knowledge of research evaluations models (performance, impact, process, etc.)
• Working knowledge and experience with analytic software packages (i.e. SPSS, SAS, R, Stata, etc.)
• Master’s degree or PhD in Public Health or related fields required plus minimum 4 years total work experience or Bachelor’s degree with 8 years related work experience
