Assistant Professor of Learning Sciences
Texas A&M University’s Department of Educational Psychology seeks an Assistant Professor with expertise associated with the Cognition, Creativity, Instruction, and Development (CCID) specialty in the Learning Sciences program. The Department of Educational Psychology and College of Education and Human Development and are especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.
Earned doctorate in education, psychology, or related field with expertise in child or adolescent development prior to appointment.
Emerging/developed trajectory of relevant research and dissemination activity.
Record of peer-refereed journal articles on child or adolescent self-regulation or
adaptation/resilience to adversity and learning or school outcomes.
Experience with externally funded projects and collaborative research teams.
University-level teaching experience via traditional and/or online instructional delivery
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Competitive candidates will demonstrate research capabilities in using biobehavioral (such as genetic, cortisol, neurophysiological, or eye-tracking) and longitudinal methodologies to establish an impactful program of research on stress reactivity, self-regulation, and/or resilience with children or adolescents. Candidates with strong quantitative skills and expertise in education, human development, or psychology are strongly encouraged to apply.
Expectations: The successful candidate will develop and teach graduate courses in educational psychology; conduct research relevant to Learning Sciences; advise and serve on graduate student committees; pursue and manage extramural funding; and contribute meaningful service at department-, college-, and university-levels. The candidate will also be expected to engage in outreach activities and service to the profession at levels consistent with a research-intensive university.
Appointment: This is a nine-month appointment with an anticipated start date of September 1, 2017. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and includes an excellent startup package.
