We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher for a new, five-year project that involves a collaboration between the Institute for Applied Research in Youth Development at Tufts University in Medford, MA and the United States Military Academy at West Point (USMA). The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of extension for an additional 2-3 years. The project is a mixed-methods, cohort-sequential longitudinal study of moral development, character, and leadership among students at USMA, funded by the Templeton Religion Trust (Co-PIs: Kristina Schmid Callina, Richard M. Lerner, and Michael Matthews). The individual will be employed by Tufts University, and the position will be housed on site at the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Leadership at USMA (West Point, NY).
The researcher will be involved in all aspects of the study, including: developing measures, particularly in the areas of moral development, character, and/or leadership development; managing and analyzing data, including longitudinal, multi-method data; presenting research findings at national and international meetings; publishing research findings in peer-reviewed journals and special interest publications; facilitating student research projects that support the overall project; contributing to general project oversight and management.
Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a social science field with a focus on human development (industrial organization, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, education);
Excellent writing ability and publication record;
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively; excellent interpersonal skills;
Availability for travel (the candidate will be required to travel to Tufts University several times per year, as well as to conferences and other meetings);
Candidate is required to live in reasonable proximity to West Point, NY (10996).
Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of advanced quantitative statistical methods and knowledge of qualitative methods or mixed-method approaches to data collection and analysis.
The salary for the position is $59,000 per year, and includes Tufts University benefits.
