The Occidental College Thinking Lab (www.oxy.edu/thinkinglab) invites applications for a two-year postdoctoral fellowship investigating the roles of intuition and reflection in understanding science. The fellowship is supported by an Understanding Human Cognition Scholar Award from the James S. McDonnell Foundation to Dr. Andrew Shtulman (www.jsmf.org/grants/20150005/).
The postdoc will supervise a team of undergraduate research assistants in recruiting and testing human subjects (both children and adults) and will work closely with Dr. Shtulman in analyzing, presenting, and publishing the research findings. Teaching opportunities in psychology or cognitive science will also be available, though teaching is not a requirement of the position.
Candidates with an interest in pursuing teaching and research at a liberal arts college are encouraged to apply. Only candidates who have obtained a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology, developmental psychology, or a related field by the start of the fellowship (July 1, 2016) will be considered.
