Postdoctoral Research Scholar Position at Penn State University—University Park

Dr. Koraly Pérez-Edgar and Dr. Kristin Buss seek a post-doctoral research scholar for a new NIH-funded study of attention, temperament, and risk for anxiety.  Start date in early Fall 2015 is highly desirable.  We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist to work on an exciting NIMH-funded project examining the impact of an attention bias to threat on anxiety in individuals at temperamental risk.  The study grows out of a Behavioral Inhibition Consortium and brings together archival data from 8 different studies with over 2,000 participants for an in-depth examination of previously hypothesized attention-anxiety relations across a wide age range and risk level.  The post-doc scholar will have the opportunity to work with leading researchers in the field across multiple contributing sites. This work will take advantage of two research labs (http://www.catlabpsu.com/and http://emotiondev.la.psu.edu) as well as the University’sbroad resources, including the Child Study Center (http://csc.psych.psu.edu/) and the Quantitative Development Group (http://quantdev.ssri.psu.edu/).  The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for curating and analyzing archival and newly collected behavioral data and writing scientific papers and presentations. Other duties will include working with research assistants and graduate and undergraduate students.  Position qualifications include a PhD in psychology, quantitative methods, or a related field; strong experimental and statistical skills; ability to work independently and in a team environment on multiple tasks and projects and to share one’s expertise with others. Excellent scientific writing skills are also desired.  The grant provides one year of support, with the possibility of an extension depending on funding. Salary will be commensurate with experience.  To apply, upload a letter of research interests, a CV, and contact information for three references at https://psu.jobs/job/59277.  Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
