Lectureships and Teaching Fellow at University of Surrey

University of Surrey, School of Psychology

Six Senior-Lectureships/Lectureships and One Teaching Fellow in Psychology.

The University of Surrey is a top ten UK University set in a beautiful campus half an hour’s journey from the centre of London. As part of an exciting new initiative the University is looking to invest in a new cohort of ‘rising star’ research-active psychologists with emerging international profiles. This initiative builds on Surrey’s long-standing strength in psychology, and is part of our 2020 strategy to further build research aimed at releasing the life-long potential of the human brain, addressing inequalities in development, dealing with changing society, risks, environments and communities, and intervening to support vital, healthy and creative lives. We seek to appoint future research leaders who will work within interdisciplinary teams to build integrated research strengths in life-course development from infancy to old age, across health sciences, psychological sciences and neurosciences. Researchers may also benefit from working within the University’s “One Health” theme through interaction with our health scientists, bioscientists, and veterinary scientists.

The Schoolhas existing expertise in Neuroscience, Cognitive, Developmental, Environmental, Health, and Social Psychology. We have on-site EEG, tDCS and TMS laboratories, shared access to fMRI facilities and an excellent Babylab with eye-tracking facilities. Joining our new incoming Head of Department Prof Derek Moore, the six Senior Lecturer and Lecturers appointments will bring an active research profile, evidenced by publication and grant bidding and income commensurate with career stage. We are looking for highly motivated people with a creative approach to Psychology, and we welcome applicants working with a range of methods who are committed to research and teaching. All post-holders will contribute directly to Teaching and Learning and to its administration in the School.

Surrey Psychology is highly rated for teaching with very high student satisfaction and provides placements with many existing community and NHS partners. One of the Senior Lecturers will be an HCPC Certified Health Psychologist who will lead our doctoral programme in Health Psychology. The Teaching Fellow will lead the delivery of research methods teaching in the undergraduate programme.

In addition to salary you will receive a generous annual leave entitlement and excellent development opportunities. Benefits package includes relocation provision, pension scheme and childcare assistance.
